Follow the backbone of the Salmo-Priest Wilderness on this up-and-down ridge hike along the Shedroof Divide bordering the west side of the Upper Priest River drainage. The trail skirts around or over five peaks and through open meadows with many pleasant views, although clearcuts have crept right up to the wilderness boundary in places. Water is scarce, particularly from late July through September. The hike is particularly enjoyable with a car shuttled to each trailhead and hiked from north to south. Several feeder trails from the west and east offer bailout points for shorter trips or longer loops.
