Lofty Lake Loop has something for everyone— lakes, streams, deep woods, meadows, ridge routes, mountain passes, and scenic views—all within a convenient loop. There are a few steep ascents and descents, but they’re never too long. Some route-finding and map-reading are required, but it’s never too challenging. The hike is well suited to families and children capable of hiking 4 miles over varied and sometimes rugged terrain. The entire hike is above 10,000 feet in elevation, so be on guard for symptoms of altitude sickness. The trail starts near the restroom at the southwest side of the parking lot and ends just 100 feet away on the north side of the lot. In addition to the Lofty Lake Trail, the trailhead serves the Weber River Trail and the Cuberant Lake Trail. You’ll know you’re on the right trail when, 50 feet into the woods, you come to a sign directing you to Holiday Park (7 miles) and Cuberant Lake (3 miles).

This is a great hike. My wife and I did this as an overnight, camping on Kamas lake. Pretty low traffic and some great views.
