In just under 2.5 miles, you go from city neighborhoods to brushy bench to a deep canyon and spring-fed creek. Ascending the steep slope, you’re rewarded with one of the best views in the area. The trail leads through sage and Gambel oak into the mouth of Taylor Canyon and up a dry creekbed. At 0.6 miles from the trailhead, the path crosses a bridge to the north side of the creekbed. Soon after, you’re engulfed in a beautiful canyon with conifers lining the side slopes. While you may see mountain bikers along the bench trails and even up into Taylor Canyon, few make it into this lush section of the canyon.

The trail is shrouded in lush pines. The view from the peak makes the steep ascent worthwhile.

Beautiful trail. A short, steep (but mostly very well graded) climb through gorgeous woodlands. I live under Malan's Peak, and enjoy looking up at a friendly mountain.
