I have hiked this loop 3 times in the summer and spring. Amazing views and challenging climbs over a beautiful ridge line. This is by far my favorite hike in this area.
Trail is in excellent shape. The hike requires mild exertion for the first two miles and then one should be in hiking trim for the last mile to be enjoyable. The hike has nice vistas of the creek and canyon with plenty of photo ops.
By this time in June, get out early in the day as the place heats up quick. 90 by 10am. Great short hike with several vistas overlooking Cache Creek and valley beyond. Some trail is quite thin and the cinders are like ball bearings, steep drops make for very careful footing. Half shade and sun, great early morning hike. Winter months are best.
