This is a good trail for dogs. I couldn't believe how many cars were in the parking lot for the trail compared to the few people we actually saw. There are several different routes that lead from this one trail head. The trail itself is a medium grade up, probably a 6 or 7 for beauty along the way, but the lake was wonderful. Very few people. Beautiful granite backdrop. We got lucky with a thunderstorm on the way back. I would definitely do this as a backpack trip and stay at the lake a night.
Nice trail, dog loved it and for the most part had a great time. Trail is busy during the weekend and camping sites at the lake are limited. If planing over night trip best if done during the week when not so busy. Bring GOOD bug spray as they are quite mean late in the afternoon and in the morning.
Beautiful trail, a few too many bugs. We went to Dardenelles and then went back, took the other trail and went to Round lake. Easily accomplished a few hours. The flowers along the way were in mild bloom.
