Day Hikes Around Sonoma County

This trail starts out magnificently, but gets much less interesting as it goes on. The huge old Bay tree right on the road is worth driving up to see even if you don't do the hike. Then, the dense redwood forest on your left as you go down the first 100 yards of the trail is a treat. Just past the redwoods the trail goes through a marshy area with lots of cattails. After that it's kind of boring. The old logging camp is somewhat of a disappointment, looking more like a more recent derelict camp than anything historic.
