Because access to the trailhead is off Old Culp Valley Road, which requires a four-wheel drive past the first 0.25 miles, the Wilson Trail offers plenty of solitude and peaceful communion with nature. You will probably see lots of overnight visitors during mild-weather months camping along Old Culp Valley Road. Once on the trail, though, your footsteps echo off surrounding brush in the otherwise-still silence of this long, fairly easy trek. (There are a few very short semi-steep sections.) Outstanding Features: Predominantly flat with some hills and dales, wildflowers in spring, horned lizards, rock formations, view of the desert valley and the Salton Sea.
