Very enjoyable, easy trail with lush vegetation including abundant sahuaros, many fluffy teddy bear cholla and, today at least, fields of poppies. We were doing the one-way car shuttle from the Gates Pass trailhead to the Camino de Oeste trailhead and managed to stay on the correct trail until we got to the 4 way intersection where a sharp left is required and we mistakenly went straight. An important sign had been torn down. We ended up on the golf course at Starr Pass Resort. After wandering around the resort for awhile, we realized we had to wend our way back to that 4-way, which we eventually did. A friendly cyclist pointed us in the right direction and explained the landmarks we would encounter, such as the Stonehouse, and a fork that could take us back to that much dreaded golf course. We forked left as required and ended up, as desired on Camino de Oeste. I'm confident I could easily make the correct turns on any subsequent trips and would recommend this as a great hike to combine with a visit to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.
