A day hike to the 11,000-foot Boulder Top plateau with opportunities for world-class fishing. The hike is along the Fish Creek section of the Great Western Trail, the trail system that traverses 4,455 miles through Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. More than 1,600 miles of Great Western Trail exist in Utah, encompassing many of the popular trails in the state as it threads its way through deserts, canyons, meadows, and forests.
The Fish Creek section of Great Western Trail 001 takes you onto Boulder Mountain from its northern edge.The entire 50,000-acre Boulder Top plateau is dotted with a profusion of beautiful little mountain lakes with descriptive names like
Bakeskillet, Horseshoe, and Halfmoon. It also is home to mountain lakes with some of the best fishing in the world.
