Nice place, but no shelter from the sun, and I had a hard time with some of the trail markings. I went up Ridge Trail and failed to find the turnoff to Cardiac. Also, be warned that, although Calle de Rob shows on Google maps and such, it does not go through unless you are willing to trespass in a closed-off area.
Though a good trail for kids, there does not seem to be a horse alive who has not been on the trails to the point that about 3/4ths of the trail has been pulverised into light beach sand or light talcum powder consistency from 2" to 5" deep in places. It has become a difficult trail to walk the length of with the over use. However, with kids and dogs (of which there are dozens on any weekend day) its probably an ok trip for an hour or two. For the hiker seeking solitude, weekdays would be the only time, and then only to acclimate yourself to hot weather or dry condition hiking.
