Hiking the Redwood Coast

The pigmy forest (like all such forests) is a bonsai/poor soil/stunted forest. Photographically ain't much. Geology wise, quite interesting though. This is a very short part of the trip. From there down to the river is a very attractive forest trail, and the "river trail all the way back to the entrance of Van Dam is quite lovely (shuttle cars if one way hike). The logging portion of the "loop hike" back to the pigmy parking lot is just an OK fire road. If doing the loop, consider at the fire road turning around and going back the way you came back to the pigmy parking lot.
