This five-loop trail system offers a diversity of natural features. The Jessieville Ranger District, together with its sister office, the Winona Ranger District, was recognized in 1995 as the Southern Region “Ranger District of the Year” for its leadership in natural resource management. Knowledge is the cornerstone of a good environmental program, and the staff at the Jessieville Visitor Center are eager to share their considerable knowledge with the public. A comprehensive set of Audubon field guides about various flora and fauna occupy a prominent place in the office. Even going to the rest room is an edifying experience because the walls are lined with posters identifying insects, birds, trees, and leaves.

Do not ride this trail on a mountain bike. I ended up hiking a large portion of it and I didn't need my mountain bike for that!

I only hiked the South Loop, but it was very nice. The trail was marked well and the scenic views were great. The lake was beautiful. We also "tried" to hike the Rocky Ridge Loop, but the trail was not marked very well at all. Other than that it was a great loop trail and I would like to try the other loops sometime.
