Took Public transport from SF civic center. Hiked this trail and then took the shuttle bus to Sausalito and took the ferry back. Very Enjoyable. http://www.flickr.com/photos/73658893@N00/tags/muir/page4/
Great hike! The Map & Directions were perfectly clear and we were never confused as to where we were heading. Be sure to finish with the Dipsea Trail if you prefer a lighter hike, we briefly thought about doing the loop in reverse because we had to park in the overflow parking lot. We decided against it and thankfully so, the first half of the hike was lush wooded greenery with a gradual climb. The last half of the hike was open field with a downhill grade with some pretty steep sections. Taking the loop in reverse would be a significantly more strenuous hike though very doable. Great for a day hike it took us about 3-1/2 hours to complete with 1 brief stop.
Very scenic, great workout and not very crowded. A lot of great options for connections to other trails.
