I haven't been hiking in a while, so a 5 mile easy hike seemed like a good idea. Started at 35 degrees at the car, but it was easily 45+ degrees on top of the mountain.
I was winded on a few sections as I haven't been working out. so I am not sure I would classify this as easy. Also the ice and snow did make for some treacherous walking in a few spots. We had our trekking poles which made this a nice way to maneuver the ice.
Up and back did take 3 hours, but we enjoyed the view for quite a while. There is no beating this view. It also does not seem like many people are up here in the winter, which makes it seem like you are on top of the world, alone.
I highly recommend this hike. It was a great experience and the views were fantastic. We followed this hike with a cool down by walking the General Grant trail and that was a nice afternoon in the Sequoia's. Please do this hike, you will enjoy it. No beginners are on this one.
