Warner Valley Campground is a great place to visit. It caters to tent campers (the road in is not recommended for trailers), and there aren’t even any bears (thanks to the new bear boxes). There is a ranger station a mile back down the road. There’s the resort a few hundred yards up the road. The trails are spectacular. Hot Springs Creek gurgles by the campground, lulling the tent camper to sleep. The creek swimming is great.

McArthur - Burney Falls Memorial SP is so far the best SP my family and I have been to. We came to this park on 6/4/09 and we got all types of weather. 3 out of the 5 days we were there it rained, and the last 2 days the weather maintained in the mid 70sat night the temp dropped to the high 40s, however it was worth it. 40 min south east is Mt. Lassen Volcanic SP and another 40 min north is Mt. Shasta. This place is not only beautiful but quite and peaceful. The waterfall is magnificent and is a must see for any type of camper. The lake is huge and they offer boat rentals and a great swimming area. Campsites are medium size with a lot of trees for privacy. We were able to fit a 2 tents and a canopy. Tent 1 was 12x10, tent 2 was 9x8, and the canopy was 12x9 and we still would have had room for 1 more tent. In the morning you will be greeted by squirrels and at night you will have raccoons try to steal left out food. Insects were not a problem here however it did rain. This SP also offer some easy to do hiking trails that the whole family can take part off. Fishing is pretty tough at this SP unless you have a boat, however we did find some good spots near the crystal lake fish hatchery.

McArthur Burney Falls is definitely a must go CAMPING site. The sites are very spacious which allows a family to play baseball, volleyball, without really feeling like you're intruding on your neighbors site. The hikes are very kid-friendly. My children 4, 6, and 7 last year hiked all the trails without a problem. The lake is great for swimming. You are able to Kayak around the area. The fall was amazing. It was cold but the kids were able to hang out at the creek and play. Definitely a place worth seeing.
