Van Damme State Park lies along the most beautiful stretch of coast in America, where it doesn’t snow during the wintertime (unlike Maine). There is a sandy beach where folks actually dare swim, whales, abalone, antique shops, a pygmy forest, fabulous restaurants, and tent pitches on moss so soft you’ll sleep like a baby. This is a well-run, friendly park. There are rangers, docents, and a campground host. Open all year, Van Damme is a park for all seasons.
