Do the horse trail going in and the "steps" trail going out. It's a bit strenuous humping up the short, steep fetch of the "steps" but it's MUCH better to do it going up than clambering down. Going up you can pay much more attention to --and enjoy -- the dramatic cascades on your left. If you were going down you'd be concentrating mostly on where to put your feet.
