When you rise out of Timber Creek, look ahead to a full view of the Fingers of the Kolob. The trail steepens and the washes become more rugged. Summiting one particularly rugged ridge, the trail clings to the ridge’s spine. Looking back, you overlook the green Timber Creek valley below and beyond that to the mesas and low valleys of the La Verkin city and Hurricane areas. To the southeast tower the massive Gregory and Shuntavi Buttes.
