Spring Creek Canyon is an easy version of the Southwest’s famous slot canyons. Although not as dramatic as Spooky Gulch and Bull Valley Gorge, Spring Creek Canyon is easily accessible, requires less of a time commitment, and is less traveled.
Start walking upcanyon. The road/all-terrain vehicle (ATV) trail goes up onto a bench on the right (south) side of the stream, crossing it a few times as it continues upcanyon. The wide trail ends a mile or more upcanyon at a thin slit between two high cliffs—the start of the slot. Enter the narrow canyon and follow the footpath. It weaves among trees and brush growing along the small stream and between the high walls, which keep the desert sun from drying out the area.
