The Alpine Loop Road goes from above the Sundance Ski Resort, over a pass, and down into American Fork Canyon, traversing the backside of Mount Timpanogos. In winter, this road is closed at the Aspen Grove trailhead, making the road from Aspen Grove to the summit a great cross-country ski excursion. The road switches back up the mountainside, but the country is generally open with good views and little avalanche danger. The summit is a great place to stop, rest, eat lunch, take in the views.
