This trail was moderately difficult, with some long exposed sections. Places suitable to put a tent were few, but water was easy to get to. Starting from Black Rock campground, we hiked in exess of 5 miles, and never came to Avery place or Pape place. The trail itself was difficult to follow, with many false trails and cow paths branching off of the main trail, which was indistinct most of the time. We did find a fantastic waterfall with approx. 20 ft drop. It was perfect to stand under and cool off, the water was ice cold from snow melt. It would have been a much better hike if the trail had been marked in some way.
