This is a great trail for the weekend hikers, backpackers, or simply someone who wants to experience the awe of being in the presence of this mystical giants. The trail is a 1 1/4 mile hike down from the trailhead, sometimes coming to steep grades. The hill is well groomed though and many benches line he trail. The grove itself has a loop trail that completes a one mile loop around the grove. You get to see some of the largest living organisms on earth here, with trees reaching as high as 389 feet in the air. This is a hike we used for backpacking last year. If you hike to the opposite side of the grove and follow the trail to Redwood Creek that runs parallel with the grove the trail leads to a foot bridge. People can camp anywhere along the creek as long as it is 1/4 mile or more from the Tall Trees Grove. Permits for the hike or for camping can be found at the information buidling just south of Orick on the 101. This hike is one of the best I have ever experienced and I don't see it being beat anytime in the future.
