Awesome, huge sand dunes in the middle of a valley ringed by 7000' mountains with horizontal striations. Rough road to get to the trailhead on the east side, but much better climb. Climb is difficult, with some calf-deep sand, and some packed sand. I hiked most of it barefoot. Amazing views. Very isolated, bring a good, reliable car. Be careful, some plants and beetles only grow here on the dunes.
