Nice, short stroll among boulders and to the only standing water reservoir in the park. You can spot lots of lizards, squirrels, and birds, and probably even larger animals if there are not too many tourists. Petrographs are a nice addition. Great views. Agree with the comment about tourists walking off the trail where they shouldn't.
This trail is very busy and not very well marked, so you see a lot of tourists walking around where they shouldn't be. That being said, this trail is a must while in Joshua Tree because it has great views and a chance to see a wide variety of flora/fauna due to the presence of the dam. This is one of my favorite short hikes in the park!
Short, but very sweet. Spectacular boulders make for excellent scrambling. Don't stay on the trail, but wander off on the boulders and take in the views.
