A great hike from one of my favorite campgrounds in San Diego County. This high-desert trail takes you through Juniper flats up to a ridge with breathtaking views of the desert floor 4,000 feet below.
This must be one of the most amazing views in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The Trail's easy to find up to the east from the trailhead, and there's a sign with 'Vista 400 yards' to make sure you know to head east. It's also well worth heading down (east) the trail another few minutes (the San Diego Sea to Sea Trail), as you'll find cactus gardens that look as though some higher power has waved a hand over to create - just stunning varieties of just about everything. If you keep following the trail, you'll end up down at the Visitors Center in Borrego!
