Very nice hike, relatively easy. All of the spring colors are in full force as are the waterfalls. Wapama Falls is really something to see in the spring. Kolana rock, directly across the reservoir is quite beautiful also. You will get wet while crossing the bridges at the falls.
A wonderful hike (and we would have gone on to Rancheria Fall, except we wanted to do the 5-mile roundtrip hike into the Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias). The reservoir in the Yosemite-mirror Hetch Hetchy valley is beautiful, and 1,400-foot Wapama Fall itself is breathtaking. A series of bridges take the hiker along the base of it, and you can plan on getting wet. A great place to find a rock and spend an hour having lunch. Trail is relatively gentle although in hot weather (mid-May 2007) it was mildly exhausting. Would do it again ... but would go on to Rancheria as well. A park ranger told us Hetch Hetchy gets 2 percent of the visiors of Yosemite Valley, so although there were a lot of people at the falls the trail was anything but crowded.
Great hike. Wonderful scenery. All the falls were running full. Had to remove shoes at a couple places on the trail as the water was running over it. Wapama falls was very full and if you did attempt to cross the bridge to go further... You got WET !!!
