Hiking Yosemite National Park

This is an overnight shuttle route that follows the north rim of Yosemite Valley from west to east, beginning near Big Oak Flat Road, skirting the tops of El Capitan, Eagle Peak, Yosemite Falls, and North Dome, and dropping into the valley at Tenaya Canyon above Mirror Lake. It is a cooler, longer, slightly later-season trek than the south-rim route, with breathtaking views of the valley.

Very nice trail and moderate as a backpack. We have backpacked this trail of the North Rim several times this year and always find it refreshing in views of Half Dome and Glacier Point as well as the Valley Floor below. Most fallen trees have been removed from trail.Good campsites below Indian Rock with views of Half Dome as sun sets.From North Dome you can hike to Top of Yosemite falls .

This trail is deceptive if you look at a topo map. It looks quite easy, but it is a little more strenuous than that. It isn't really hard, but add a little time to your trip estimate. The views of Half Dome, across the canyon, from the bluff above North Dome and on North Dome are some of the best in the park. Also from the top and sides of North Dome you get great views of Yosemite Valley from above. This hike is not anywhere near as strenuous as the trek up to the top of Half Dome. So if you want views of the valley from the canyon rim, with a little bit of hiking included, this is probably the best trail.
