This "trail" is really a road to a picnic area on the edge of the canyon. It is an easy walk with a very small, nearly imperceptable, incline to your destination. It is also nearly deserted. The solitude is very refreshing.
The view was, of course, spectacular. You get a view of the river below and to the east. There is no descent into the canyon, but you are free to wander along the perimeter to your hearts content.
This trail is just great because you walk through a forest first to get to the rim. The terrain is easy (pretty flat) for those who are not athletes (I am very overweight). The view is stunning and is all the more amazing because of the lack of guardrails. It really is not as populated as other areas of the park because of the initial walk in. Highly recommended.
