first hike for my 4 yo son! Had a great time, nice trail. The cave was closed due to bat virus? very disapointing, but made the best of things. muddy trail from all the rain the previous days. I want to go back soon!!
The scenery is gorgeous! I Love it there. I totally recomend this trail. I also recomend that, if you don't want to backtrack to your vehicle once you've reached the other end, I'd park a vehicle at both the beginning and end. I've been there several times with family. We even let the kids get in the river at the end point after we've hiked.
Outstanding trail for a day hike or backpacking. We had a very young group of boy scouts on the trail and had no issues. I highly recommend this trail and the Sipsey Wilderness area in general.
Beautiful walk, not too hard along Borden Creek to the edge of the Sipsey Wilderness area. Very cool cave near the start of the trail. A note about the directions: After turning onto Hwy 33, you will come to CR6 after only a mile or so. Don't turn here, keep going 12 miles as the directions state and you will see a sign for the Borden Creek Trailhead.
Sipsey Wilderness Trail 200 is an excellent introduction to this Emerald of the Alabama. On this trail you see many beautiful species of wild flowers all through the spring and summer. In Autumn the leaves are spectacular.
