A long hike, well suited for backpackers, through an intriguing desert valley. Names can be misleading. Somehow, “Salt Creek” seems to imply a dry, harsh, and unpleasant place when quite the opposite is true. Upper Salt Creek is definitely one of the most delightful hikes in the Canyonlands, and it deserves a name like “Desert Paradise Creek.”

Great trail!! Beautiful scenery! Lots of indian ruins and pictographs. Must have a backcountry permit as it is in the boundaries ot the national park most of the way. Saw bear tracks...who would have thought! The first couple of miles is grueling if you go in from the south end but the effort is worth it!
