A very easy walk to the base of a fragile, picturesque rock formation. This is a short hike, perfect for travelers who would like to stretch their legs without working up a big sweat. You can see Balanced Rock and read about it on an interpretive display at the parking area, but it’s more impressive up close. The trail makes a short loop around Balanced Rock and returns to the parking area.

Nothing spectacular here, but a nice little leg stretcher.

A leg stretcher from the car journey into the Park. Mundane compared to the other sights.

This trail is only worth hiking if you don't plan on doing ANY other trails in the park. It gives you a great idea of Arches hiking, with groomed trail turning into slickrock turning into sand and back again. It does not, however, give the terrific views so commonly found throughout the park, or lead to any hidden treasures. In fact, the best, more dramatic view of Balanced Rock itself comes from the approach trail, though of course it's fascinating from all angles. I would suggest this trail to those travelers who otherwise wouldn't get out of the car, due to its length, but not to people eager to hike the park.
