It's 2,800 ft up over 5.3 miles on the way out, and you lose it on the way back, but it's not too difficult. The vistas are great. There were patches of snow and big trees near the summit. Bring a garbage bag to clean the trail near the 4-mile point; that jct is on an illegal route from Mexico. (Note the Border Patrol at the trailhead.) Still, the trail seems perfectly safe, and it's really enjoyable.
Trails.com has been informed that sections of Coronado National Memorial, especially the Cave and Cave Trail, were closed indefinitely due to flooding in summer 2006.
