From serpentine Kane Creek Canyon to the vistas across Canyonlands, this is a red-rock adventure that will immerse you in the remote beauty of canyon country. This drive is best in spring and fall. The first mile from the Hurrah Pass-Chicken Corners road involves a difficult climb up a very rocky ravine. The 20-mile journey from the top of the ravine along the bench to Lockhart Basin is slow and tedious because of the rocky roadbed and numerous small washes across the road. The segment from Lockhart Basin to S.R. 211 is on county-maintained road. Indian Creek, which you will ford at the south end, can be high in spring or after summer storms.
