This road courses down Strike Valley, between the Henry Mountains and Waterpocket Fold, a spectacular 100-milelong north-south wrinkle in the Earth’s crust. It is named for depressions in the sandstone that collect water. The road links up with Burr Trail Road, where switchbacks climb 800 feet to the top of the fold. Don’t miss Upper Muley Twist Canyon’s salmon-pink arches, cliffs and domes and Strike Valley Overlook’s head-spinning vista.
