We took 4 trails, Blue, Green, Pecan Flats and the Valley Creek trail. They were all breathtaking with the wildflowers in bloom. Bluebonnets galore, Indian Paint brush, White Prickley Poppy and many, many more. Butterflys everywhere. Very little climbing and mostly easy except for some rough rocky areas. Views of the lake are on all the trails. The only thing you have to be careful about is on the Green trail. There is a loop about 1/2 way into the trail and the marking for it is not that great so we went around it twice, missing the cut off. Everywhere else it was well marked. If it is hot out you will want to bring water because even as these are short trails the heat off the rocks and the sun can be dehydrating. A must in wildflower season. If you take and it is not wildflower season I would give this a 4 star.
A well-developed; well-marked system of trails around Inks Lake, a beautiful southern sister to Lake Buchanan. Plenty of great sites, views and geocaches; plus a nice variety of camping opportunities. Get there early, because this place gets packed!
