This was a great hike for an October day. The trail is in good shape with one or two minor exceptions. Trees and bushes have expanded over the trail in a couple of places, and minor erosion from people cutting the switchbacks. The views of surrounding valleys and rock formations are incredible and only get better as the hike progresses. Wildflowers, including a crimson columbine, could still be seen in the higher elevations. The mountains in the area were starting to show their fall colors. We saw deer, lizards and a Mojave Rattlesnake on the trail on the return trip. The trail is not difficult, but can be strenuous.
