This trail is definitely rated a five for the spectacular views at the summit! The trail begins as a broad path which narrows and becomes a bit rocky on the switchbacks. Near the summit, the area breaks into a beautiful grassy area that used to serve as a corral for the forestry ranger's equine transportation. Take time to look at the old look-out cabin, built in 1913 and in service until 1930. The final 0.3 mile to the existing look-out tower is the steepest part of the climb.
