On the first part of this journey, backpackers are treated to a shady, old-growth forest that escaped the axes of the lumbermen who denuded the Tahoe Basin of most of its timber during the Comstock Lode frenzy in the 19th century. Secluded camping, colorful wildflowers, and dancing streams are delightful attractions. The second part of the trip follows a section of the PCT on a ridge route that offers sweeping vistas.

the first 1.3 miles was good ... until the children got tired so we never completed the hike ... good thing!!! did not realize until we got home that this trail was 25 miles long and takes 3 days to complete hahaha ... "we are training the children for longer hikes " .. my 4 year old made 2.7 miles to and from on this hike... yey ... .... we were supposed to be at PCT Pacific Crest trail @ barker pass.... but were given a wrong direction by a couple of horseback riders ...
