Timothy Lakes offer an excellent chance for an “above timberline” experience. A grueling 8.5-mile hike places you in an open basin where Swift Creek originates. Equestrians and fly fishers adore this area because of the wide-open tundra. Horses have plenty of room to roam, and anglers have plenty of room for backcasting. Fishing is a primary reason for coming here. Combine the three Timothy Lakes with the three Carrol Lakes, and you have some of the finest fishing you can find packed into 2 miles.
