Salt Lake City has lots of variety for the runner. The whole Wasatch region features many wide-open urban trails built along its beautiful rivers and around its parks. While running on these trails, you’ll be able to see and hear lots of birds and other animals right in the cities. Should you want to escape the city summer heat, it’s just a quick drive up to the mountains for a cool day of running. Some ski resorts are open for summer activities and have food service available, allowing you to enjoy a morning of running and then have lunch up in the cooler mountain air. And then there are trails out in the Great Basin and on the islands of the Great Salt Lake. These make for unique experiences and give you splendid views of the Wasatch mountain range. This guide includes Liberty Park, Sugar House Park, Jordan River Parkway, City Creek Canyon, Provo River Parkway, Ogden River Parkway, Park City Rail Trail, Antelope Island: White Rock Bay Loop, Mill Creek Pipeline Trail, Albiion Basin, Pine Trail in Little Cottonwood Canyon, South Skyline Trail, Wastach Crest in Mill Creek Canyon, American Fork Canyon, Stansbury Island, and The Wasatch 100 Mountain Run.
