The whole Salt Lake City region is an excellent place for road cycling, from easy parkways to stark desert tours and on up to the high-mountain loops. These trips would be reason enough to take up this excellent aerobic form of travel. Add local hero Lance Armstrong, four-time winner of the Tour de France cycle race—who has inspired countless individuals to go buy a bike—and you have the formula for some unforgettable days in the outdoors. Most of the cities covered in this book have excellent bike lanes. There are free maps available at visitor centers to help you find your way around in town. Our goal is to help you get out of town! This guide includes Jordan River Parkway, Antelope Island, Big Cottonwood Canyon, Little Cotton Wood Canyon, Ogden to Willard, Rush Valley Tour, Mormon Trail Loop, Utah Lake Loop, Jordanelle Reservoir Loop, and Alpine Scenic Loop.
