Bailey Lake offers pleasant Bitterroot fare—good fishing and aesthetics along the Bitterroot Divide—and is well within reach of most day hikers, including younger children. Though the trail itself is fairly rough underfoot and traverses heavy brush fields resulting from a 1988 wildfire, there is little risk of becoming lost. This is a nice place to spend a leisurely September afternoon.
