Most of the major Bitterroot canyons offer reasonably good trails leading to specific destinations and turnaround points. Not so with Sawtooth Creek. It is an unusually rugged trail beyond the first several miles, with numerous rocks, roots, and brush crowding the trail. The Sawtooth Creek Trail is also notable as an approach route to Ingomar Lake—long regarded as the holy grail of Bitterroot Mountain fisheries.

Very enjoyable, difficult yet short hike. A few views along the way are phenomenal. Great views from the summit. If exercise is wanted I highly recommend this hike.
