This railway town is located at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 191. It was once the cowboy entertainment capital of the region. Highlights include Phillips County Museum. The museum, in a building which once served the community as a library and is now on the National Register of Historic Places, chronicles the development of Malta from the time it was Siding 54 on the Great Northern Railroad to the present. Other exhibits of interest are the dinosaur display, a special Civil War weapons section, and Indian artifacts.
