Loma is a small farm and ranch community located 11 miles north of Fort Benton on U.S. Highway 87. Surprisingly, you’ll find several unusual museums in this small community. Earth Science Museum has a collection of rocks, fossils, and minerals that everyone will find interesting. Some of this museum is hands-off to youngsters, but there are specimens that kids can pick up and get a close look at. Richard Wood Watchable Wildlife Area is a small wildlife viewing area that has easy access to the main highway. It is nestled in the cottonwoods along the Marias River and is a pleasant place to walk, fish, or enjoy the river. Look for turtles, beavers, muskrats, and waterfowl along shoreline areas.
