For a quiet experience in Glacier Park, explore the northwest area, where the north fork of the Flathead River marks the western boundary of the park. Here you can enjoy this wild stretch of river and appreciate the land much as it was before the settlers came. The Polebridge Ranger Station services the North Fork, and is about halfway from West Glacier to the Canadian border. Mountain biking makes sense in the North Fork, for you could consider yourself lucky to see cars here. The roads are unpaved except for short stretches at the south end and up around Polebridge. You can start a bike trip at Polebridge on either of the two dirt roads that go out from the town. The destinations include: Covey Trail and Hidden Meadow Trail.
