The nearly flat Specimen Creek Trail follows Specimen Creek up the canyon through a mature forest dominated by lodgepole pines. This beautiful drainage crosses bridges over feeder streams to an open meadow at the confluence of the North Fork and East Fork of Specimen Creek. The meadow is frequented by elk and moose.

Nice and easy stroll through some beautiful meadows and woodlands. Be sure to take time to head uphill when the trail ends. A lot of terrific petrified wood discoveries along with some fascinating fossils.
