The North Hills rise above Missoula to the north on the west side of Rattlesnake Valley. A trail system through the open space connects Waterworks Hill in the south, the Moon-Randolph Homestead in the north, and the Rattlesnake Greenway in the west.
This loop hike climbs the grassy slope to the ridge, following the ridge toward the summit of Randolph Hill. From the ridge are vistas across Missoula Valley and the surrounding mountains. A side trail leads to the Moon-Randolph Homestead, a century- old farm with an orchard and a barn. The hike returns along Rattlesnake Creek.
