A fairly strenuous overnight round trip (well-suited for a three-day trip) to a small lake just below the Montana - Idaho border. Located on the east slope of the Continental Divide in the Beaverhead National Forest, 15 miles southwest of Jackson and 65 miles west of Dillon. The Overland Trail 36 goes downhill and joins Pioneer Creek Trail 479 just before the creek crossing. Shortly after this crossing is the junction with Trail 442, which continues along the south side of Pioneer Creek as a primitive vehicle track. This track is very pleasant to walk along as it winds among parks and groves. Watch for moose in the willow bottoms by the creek.
