The Republic Creek Trail begins at Cooke City and follows a high mountain meadow parallel to Republic Creek. The trail crosses over Republic Pass at 4.5 miles, just west of Republic Peak, and connects with the Cache Creek Trail to the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone Park. This hike follows the first portion of the trail through the creek valley to the headwall at the north face of Republic Peak. There are scenic vistas of the surrounding peaks and a beautiful display of wildflowers.
